Texas Water Development Board approves $593,789 in agricultural water conservation grants

AUSTIN – (May 31, 2017) – The Texas Water Development Board (TWDB) today approved $593,789 in grants through the TWDB's Agricultural Water Conservation Grants Program. The program offers grant funding to state agencies and political subdivisions for activities that promote water conservation in our state.
The grant recipients are the North Plains Groundwater Conservation District, Texas A&M AgriLife Extension, and Texas A&M University-Kingsville.
The grant recipients qualified in one of three categories:
- Water use monitoring equipment
- Demonstration and technology
- Study of irrigation efficiency in Texas
A Request for Applications was posted for the grants in the Texas Register on December 2, 2016. Applicants had until February 15, 2017, to submit their application.

The TWDB is the state agency charged with collecting and disseminating water-related data, assisting with regional planning, and preparing the state water plan for the development of the state's water resources. The TWDB administers cost-effective financial assistance programs for the construction of water supply, wastewater treatment, flood control, and agricultural water conservation projects.
